MovingBox keeps a record of items that leave your home without removing them from your inventory. Mark an item as Lent, connect it to the person or business borrowing it, and optionally set a return due date. When it comes back, return it to Active.

Before You Lend Something

Add the item to MovingBox and save a clear photo. If you want to record who borrowed it, add that person or business in the People & Businesses directory first. You can also import a contact when creating the relationship.
A clear, up-to-date photo makes it easier to find the item later with Visual Intelligence on supported iOS 27 devices.

Check an Item Out

1

Open the item

Find the item in your inventory and open its details.
2

Edit its lifecycle

Tap Edit, then choose Lent from the item’s lifecycle status.
3

Record the borrower

Choose a Borrower from People & Businesses. MovingBox requires a borrower before it can save an item as Lent.
4

Add the dates

Confirm the Lent On date and, if useful, set a Return Due Date.
5

Save

Tap Save. The item remains in your inventory and appears in Lent Items so you can see what is away from home.

Find and Check an Item Back In

You can open a lent item from Lent Items, search for it in MovingBox, or use Visual Intelligence on a supported iOS 27 device:
  1. Use Siri Camera to look at the item and select the MovingBox result when a confident match appears.
  2. Open the item’s details and tap Edit.
  3. Change the lifecycle status from Lent to Active.
  4. Confirm that you want to clear the lending details, then save.
Changing an item back to Active removes the borrower and lending dates, so its next loan starts with a clean record. The item stays in its assigned home and location throughout the process.

Keep Loans Easy to Reconcile

  • Use Lent Items to review every item that is currently away.
  • Set a due date for anything you expect back. MovingBox can notify you on the return date when notifications are allowed.
  • Keep the original item photo instead of making a separate record for each loan. This preserves one inventory record for the item.
  • Visual Intelligence requires a confident match against a saved photo. If it does not find the item, use MovingBox search and update the same record manually.

Privacy and Access

Visual Intelligence only searches items the current user is authorized to access, and archived items are excluded. It uses saved item photos for local visual matching; it is not a text search. For controls over what MovingBox shares with Apple system features, see Use Siri, Shortcuts, and Spotlight.
