# Working with Items

> Learn how to add, edit, and manage items in your MovingBox inventory

This guide will walk you through the process of adding, editing, and managing items in your MovingBox inventory.

## Adding Items

MovingBox offers three AI-powered capture modes plus manual entry. Choose based on how many items you're documenting and how much detail you need.

### Choosing a Capture Method

| Method               | Best for                     | Speed    | Detail quality                                             |
| -------------------- | ---------------------------- | -------- | ---------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Single photo** | One item at a time | Moderate | Highest — full focus on one item |
| **Multi-item photo** | A shelf, cabinet, or surface | Fast | Good — depends on photo clarity; up to 10 photos per batch |
| **Video** | An entire room | Fastest | Good — frame extraction may miss fine details |
| **Manual**           | Anything AI can't identify   | —        | Whatever you enter                                         |

**Single photo** gives the AI the most context for one item — use it for high-value or hard-to-identify things where accuracy matters. **Multi-item** is the sweet spot for shelves and grouped items; you can submit up to 10 photos in a single batch for broader coverage. **Video** is the fastest way to do a full room, but works best when each item gets a clear moment on screen.

### Single Item

Best when you want the most accurate AI result for one item — electronics, jewelry, appliances, or anything with a brand or model number worth capturing.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Add Item">
    Tap the **+** button to open the camera.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Take a photo">
    Frame a single item clearly in good lighting. Pro users can take up to 5 photos from different angles for better identification.

    <Tip>
      For electronics or branded items, include a shot of any visible labels, model numbers, or serial numbers.
    </Tip>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review AI results">
    The AI analyzes the photo and fills in item details. Review and correct anything that's off, then tap **Save**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

### Multiple Items (Photo)

Best for shelves, cabinets, drawers, or any surface with several items grouped together. Submit up to 10 photos in a single batch — MovingBox detects items across all of them at once.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Add Item">
    Tap the **+** button to open the camera.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Frame the group">
    Step back enough to capture all the items clearly. Good lighting and minimal clutter help detection accuracy.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add detail shots">
    MovingBox will automatically identify, crop, and organize images from a single batch. Feel free to grab a photo of that serial number, and we'll do our best to figure out where it goes.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review each detected item">
    The AI lists every item it found. Keep what's correct, edit anything that's wrong, and remove any false detections.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save all at once">
    Tap **Save** to add all kept items to your inventory in one go.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  Multi-item detection works best when items aren't stacked or heavily overlapping. If something important is missed, add it separately with a single-item photo.
</Note>

### Video (Entire Room)

Best for documenting a whole room quickly. Record once, review everything. Available with a **Pro subscription**.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Switch to Video mode">
    Tap the **+** button and select the **Video** tab.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pan across the room">
    Move slowly so each item is visible for at least a second. Aim for 10–30 seconds of coverage.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review detected items">
    MovingBox extracts frames and identifies items from across the video. Keep what you want, skip the rest.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  Video is fast but trades some detail for speed. For high-value items in the room, follow up with a dedicated single-item photo to get a more accurate record.
</Tip>

<Note>
  You can always improve a video-captured item later. Open the item, add more photos, and tap **Re-analyze** to get a more detailed AI result — useful for anything that needs a better name, value estimate, or description.
